will software for android get much better within the next 3 years

The software sucks because the platform sucks. Short of a paradigm shift, it'll always suck because it's made for button pushing monkeys. If you want good software, use a platform that has full resources and a keyboard.

As harsh as lxskllr sounds, he's right. Mobile software is not designed for productivity, and the open nature of app stores means for every 1 solid app you're going to have 50 that are absolute junk trying to make a quick buck.

Don't believe the media hype that the "desktop is dead," it's anything but. It's going to be quite a long time before the device in our pocket can adequately rival the device on our desktop.

... and a mouse, at least for me.
Switching between applications on an android tablet is time consuming compared to desktop (Windows & Linux). Then there is the screen size and the keyboard that sometimes obscures what you are writing.

Its just little things about the mobile software. Surely these can be fixed soon? Per example. Vocaroo app doesn't work that good. Can't delete mp3s in SoundCloud app. The no root firewalls don't work good. Otherwise I prefer phone to mouse and keyboard. Posting from my phone right now. Type faster on my phone too

So you're asking about problems you perceive in 3rd party apps and want to know if Android will fix them? The answer is no. The developers of those third party apps are responsible for the way their apps work. If you want changes, send a message to the developers and see if they agree. If not, find other apps that do work the way you want them to.

To bring the two thoughts together, the big problem is that those "apps that work the way you want them to" very rarely exist. Mobile is big, but it's also not big business. Cisco isn't developing a tablet version of their phone system management software, Adobe isn't developing a fully featured CS suite for iPads, etc. Mobile for the big players in software development is an afterthought, if a thought at all. Until mobile truly reaches parity with the desktop space, big development is going to keep focusing on the desktop space. Which means Mobile is mostly focused on small devs, half-baked apps, and scraps from the big guys with limited functionality and poor support.

Simply put, unless all you do is literally browse the web and read your email, a mobile device is not an adequate replacement for a full on computer. Maybe 10 years from now, but not anytime soon.

Actually most developers on Android release low quality apps. And this is not Google's fault entirely. Apple has a bit better quality apps but again, no desktop quality.

I think it will change when mobile start replacing desktops.
