Will Single channel give a big performance hit on AM2

Hi, I just put together a budget gaming pc, and I am second thinking some of my choices while I am waiting for the PSU to get here. Here are the specs:

A64 3500+ Orleans
Biostar Tforce 6100 mATX mobo
1gb G.Skill 4-4-4-12 DDR2 667
Sapphire X850XT
Forton 400w PSU
WD 80gb Sata2 drive
Samsung DVD Burner

It came to $496 shipped and I had a strict budget of $500 otherwise I would've opted for 2gb of ram. I was going to get 2x512mb ram, but I figured 1gb stick would allow for a future upgrade. However I am starting to think this wasn't the best choice. Will single channel give me a noticable performance hit on AM2?

I don't believe so, if you have to go single channel, it won't be the end of the world. If you can, try to increase the HTT so that you can run a higher 'FSB'. That way you'll have higher memory bandwidth etc. Then again seeing as you have DDR2 667 memory, I don't believe that you'd be bandwidth starved, what are you memory scores?

I haven't booted up the system yet. My psu and video card are shipping from a different warehouse and won't come till Monday. I got the other parts on Friday.

I built a system with almost the same specs the other day except it had dual channel with two sticks of (512 DDR2 800). It runs really well for the price. I'll be interested to know how the same thing with diff RAM performs.
