Will SETI@home affect downloading while running?

I was just wondering. If I have a download in process say from an ftp and the screensaver comes up and starts running, will that slow downloading down? Right now when I download I turn the screensaver off. Thanks for the input.

Thanks guys, I guess my numbers should go up now. Im pretty much a newbie but this stuff is all very interesting to me. When I go back to college in the spring im going to try to get my friends to join. I also have a lab that I can probably set up to run seti when computers are not in use. I will get permission, dont worry. Thanks for all the help.

No it won't effect your downloading ,SETI only needs to be connected to the net itself to fetch a new Work Unit ,about 350k ,when the previous one is complete.

jblondi, do you have the S@H screensaver client set to go to blank screen mode after 0 minutes or so? Displaying the graphics will up your WU times by about 50%! :Q Also, do you use a WU queuing program, such as SETIQ or SETIDriver to cache WUs?
