Will SCSI-2 cable work with DB-25

Hello

The Ricoh scanner requires a SCSI-2 cable.

Does anyone know if a SCSI-2 to DB-25 cable will work? Or should I get a SCSI-2 card?

My old PC has, of course, the serial and parallel ports (the DB-25) but is just the cable gonna carry the signals properly?

Thanks for help

You will need a SCSI controller card (unless your motherboard has it onboard which I'm thinking it does not) and appropriate SCSI cable.

Are you thinkin of diggin up the parallel port driver that simulates SCSI over the port and using that to interface with your scanner?

My UMAX has a DB-25 on it and I use a 29160 with a 50-pin connector to control it.

Yes, that's would seem to be the cheapest solution, just get the cable.

But I'm worried about the parallel end on the PC - how does the PC (windows XP) know that this is a SCSI and not a parallel connection?

The last time I saw the Parallel to SCSI driver work was on a Win3.11 machine, I don't know if they ported it over to a higher version of Windows. Have you had any luck finding the driver?

It's been a few years but I think the reason our IT department couldn't upgrade the system was because the driver wouldn't work in Win2K.
