Yes. I find it especially disturbing that Microsoft has issued one of their rewards for the author of this virus - my local news reported that it attacked a MICROSOFT website. I knew MS and SCO were in bed, but to that degree?

Considering Microsoft gave quite a lot of cash to SCO they aren't just in bed, but are also doing what Michael Jackson does to kids.

Microsoft sees the use in a different company sueing Linux, and gives them money to do so.

not likely to fall. There are probably several ways to circumvent this kind of attack with several days advance warning.

Unix is NOT Open source. Linux was created by Linus Torvalds to emulate Unix (do the same things Unix did), and he allowed Linux to be open source. He emulates Unix so well most programs are source compatible between platforms.

You guys and gals that don't know who SCO is should probaby visit SlashDot and Groklaw for more information.

However, if you visit Groklaw right now you'll get nothing because they just got SlashDotted (got more requests than their server could handle).
How ironic :D

I guess only time will tell to what will happen to SCO's website. It would be interesting to see if we can even visit the site.

SCO fell when they tried to charge money for something that has been free even before they accquired the license to the Unix code.

I get tons of mail with the MyDoom virus and it totally hate the virus but SCO and MS derserve whatever's coming their way.

MS I believe is one of three companies that paid SCO licensing fees.

Everyone scoffs off SCO, but they have some of the top lawyers in the US working for them. The other side does to, but this isnt some cut and dry case alot of you people try to make it out to be...

Man... I'm not typically an M$ hater but things like this make me wonder why I ever bother defending any of their other antics.

Guys ... there are two distinct strains of the Virus. MyDoom.A Targets sco.com . MyDoom.B targets microsoft.com. They are essentially the same virus so one would suspect that the same author created both programs. So Microsoft isn't so much allying with SCO as seeking their own revenge. More importantly, I would think that ANY company that was attacked in this way would retaliate.

My personal feeling is this is no better than Terrorism. While I don't support the actions of either companies, I feel that illegal, malicious attacks can not be tolerated by any of us. God only knows how much money will be wasted combatting these viruses as they clog mailboxes, and slow networks down. If you don't like the actions of a company ... protest them. There are lines between "peaceful disruption" and terrorism and this, IMHO, crosses them.
