I'm building a new system and have it narrowed down to a few mob candidates.
I plan to start off with 1 SATA hd on ICH5R, then add another when RAID 1 becomes available on ICH5R.
Does anyone have doubts about this happening?
Plenty of review sites mention that Intel will add ICH5R RAID 1 via a new driver, but I have yet to see any mention of it on any manufacturer sites.
Will it be up to the each manufacturer to make the driver work for each board? Or will it apply to all ICH5R boards by default?
Logic tells me that the Intel boards would be the safest bet for this. Stability is number one concern for me - won't be overclocking. But I don't like restrictions either.
I guess I should make sure that my board has SATA RAID 1 available on the PCI controller, just to be safe.
Anyone have any info on ICH5R RAID 1? Maybe a blurb on Intel's site?
Thanks.
