Will - SATA HD's hinder overclocking on a NF4-SLI mobo?? As long as the PCI bus is locked??

I am wanting to buy a couple SATA 80GB hd's for someone and wanting to know if I put them in a NF4-SLI mobo if they will hinder overclocking?? Please let me know, Thanks 🙂

Yes, it will. Expect 10-20 mhz reduction in FSB speed. Ive tested this thouroughly and i have been effected.

I've tested it as well and have gotten the same performance vs PATA with the exception of the NForce3 Mobo where the SATA ports 3&4 are not locked as well as some earlier NF4 versions ...but since on almost all Mobo's SATA has been locked...particularily the OP's

Well on my DFI NF4 SLI, i lost FSB mhz adding a SATA drive to the mix, didnt matter which port i plugged it in on. Many others have too.

Port 3 is where you would want a SATA on a NF3 fyi...

Apparently the SATA 3's vary from Mobo to Mobo so 2 are unlocked while 2 are locked as well as the ULi chipsets but still yet if a SATA port is locked it does not hinder any OCing on the SATA drives and did not on the kits I built which included the the DFI NF4 SLI for me but I do not doubt your bytes...so there may be a variance ...

Edit=From Manu Techs:
That is an unfortunate nature of how the PHY connects into the Hypertransport bus both externally and internally - to lock the bus removes a great deal of performance from all 4 ports.
