I just put my pc together this weekend (8KHA+ and XP 1800.) I am having trouble installing an OS though. My old Win2K partition is still on there so I was able to boot into it via safe mode. Normal gives me a BSOD.
Installing the new OS also gives me a BSOD. 90% of the time it will freeze at starting Win2K (this is during the initial phase when it has just scanned the system and is before the point where is it getting ready to select a partition to format/install. The other 10% of the time when it gets past that screen it goes to BSOD instantly.
I bought these DIMMS about 5 months ago when I planned to buy something like a Tyan Tiger 760MP but I bunked that idea.
The mobo came with the latest non-beta bios (not a big fan of beta testing a bios) so I doubt thats the problem. I have tried installing on 2 different HDDs with a SCSI CD-rom as well as an IDE one so I doubt it could be a problem with the controller. Anyone know if the memory might be causing these problems? I always assumed that since the memory is ECC/registered then it just meant that I could just leave those features disabled.
