Will reinstalling window xp delete saved files?

I need to reinstall xp but I want to keep some files... cough*porn*cough
if I install without formatting, will files on "desktop" still be there?
there is no way to access the harddrive without reinstalling xp
repairing doesn't work
 
Make sure they're NOT in the My Documents folder. Make a "special" (or *not-so-special*) folder on the C:/ drive and place all of your *cough*pr0n*cough* inside of it.
