Will putting on a chrome orb hurt my cpu core?

ok, i busted one of those little stinking nubs on my mother board. I don't feel like RMA-ing it like some have told me to do (considering no one has told me what that means). i want to know if a chrome orb or the new dual one will fit on backwards without doing anything. i got a generic one on right now.

RMA = return merchandise agreement

it means you send it back for a replacement.

wtf is a nub? you dont mean a capacitor do you? or do you mean the the plastic thing you attach your heatsink to on the socket?

if you break something, you almost never get an RMA, they charge you for repair or make you buy a new one.

one of those little plastic things on the socket that the cpu plugs into. It's still halfway there, so a spring that uses less force still holds a heatsink on it. That's what i use now but i can't over clock.
