Will Promise ATA/100 Card Work With My Mobo?

IceT

Senior member
My mobo, MSI BX Master, already has an onboard Promise ATA/66 chipset embedded and I am running out of IDE connectors. So, if I am gonna get the Promise ATA/100 (with the BIOS rom chip), will it able to work on my machine?

Thanks.

What the heck??

You have 4 built in ATA33 devices + 4 ATA66 devices on the built in Promise 66, you need another 4 Ultra100 devices? Yeesh.....

I *should* work ok, though I've never tried to use two cards that use the same drivers...

Yesterday, I bought a MSI Ultra/100 card which came WITHOUT a BIOS rom chip...Well, my two HDs connected to the Ultra/100 couldn't detected by FDisk....So, I came to a conclusion that I need a card with the BIOS rom chip. So, it will work for sure?

IceT: It will work. If you have any ata100 hard drives, put them on the Promise ata100 controller card.
