will PC5400 RAM work where PC3200 is spec'd?

$40 - PC5400 1gbx2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820145098
$109 - PC3200 1gbx2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820145579

Doesn't make sense, but this is a case of lack of supply, not increase in demand.

My question - my 939 MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum mobo spec's DDR 266/333/400. Right now am using some PC3200.

I'm guessing that the PC5400 will work, but it won't run as fast. Anyone else tried this on any mobo?

I think it'd be asking too much for the PC5400 work alongside PC3200, right?

Less demand for older technology.

Oversupply of DDR2.

Rather, its a lack of supply for old 184-pin RAM. Nobody's been making it for a few years.

Obviously - because of decreasing demand.

In 2 years we will be asking the same questions about DDR2.

Noooo.... they stopped making it because they came out with the next greatest thing. Same reason Ford is no longer making the 2007 F-150. Except prices are going up because there is no solidly entrenched resale market for RAM.

You've come a long way since your original post yesterday...

Now you even know all the reasons for the price difference ;)
