will pc 2100 run with a 2500 barton?

if you use a ratio you can but that isn't reccommended for AMD's Barton's use a 333FSB and pc2100 is only 266mhz.

As an addendum for AMD processors it's best to keep the FSB and Memory in sync for best performance and possibly stability.

If you have uber leet 2100, you can do it. You can test so by starting at FSB133 and raising it a few MHz at a time. I know that my two Crucial 2100 sticks from pre-2700 days work fine at 2700, and so does this FAR stick of Kingston Valueram we have.

I'd just check the specs of the motherboard. Keeping them in snyc for best performance and stability is all and well but if you want it to work, the final words would be the motherboard specs.

I do actually run my Crucial PC2100 @ 360 DDR actually well its runs at 183 but that is max anything highier and prime dies in a few minutes.

like others have mentioned, you might be able to run pc2100 faster than 133 mhz...right now i've got a samsung pc-2100 (256mb), a crucial pc-2100 (256mb) and a crucial pc-2700 (512mb) stick all running together at 166mhz :) gotta love just throwing together parts you have lying around and making them work for you
