Will parity EDO SIMM RAM work in non-parity computers?

That's one question that's been bothering me for a while. I think it should work fine, just a tiny bit slower, kind of like ECC memory. Am I correct? This is 72pin SIMM memory we are talking about here.

In general, all chipsets supporting EDO RAM supports both parity and non-parity SIMMs. You can use parity SIMMs with non-parity SIMMs, but operate only in normal mode.

Parity memory is essentially what we call ECC memory today. ECC memory simply has a parity bit that performs a CRC (cyclical redundancy check) each cycle to assure error-free operation (important for servers, but not for typical workstation PCs that most people use). Because of this, ECC memory by nature is a bit slower than non-parity memory.

Be careful here. I dug out my old ASUS TX97 manual and it does not support parity memory and it was a mainstream board for the P-233 era.
Also, i remember others saying that parity had to be engaged in the BIOS. I would not do it.
