my XP333-R has on board raid that reads as a SCSI contoler in device manager do I have to do something other than changing my boot sequence to floppy then SCSI ect ect? and will it look for the 29160 card instead of the onboard raid controller?

Anyone Use SCSI with this board? My WD "SE" drive is dying a slow death time to RMA and I found a SCSI controller and 73gig drive in Hot Deals forum for Cheap so I couldn't help myself. Impulse buy

secondly can I put my screwed up IDE HD on the primary IDE header (currently on Raid1 header) to see if there is a chance to do some file transfers? I pretty much have the HD backed up but who knows might have something left.

My configuration is not the same as yours but I have successfully used a PCI SCSI card on two different mobos (TH7II & IT7-Max2-Rev2) with RAID controllers. Although my scanner (HP 6250) has a USB port, it works much better with a SCSI connection. Therefore, I have installed an Adaptec 2930 controller on both boards. On the TH7II I also had an IDE Zip drive connected to IDE3. I have done the same with the IT7 but for some reason the Highpoint controller does not see anything connected to it. I have no reason to believe this problem is connected to the fact that I have a SCSI card installed.
