I don't think there's a single candidate of significant strength to run against him. And, yes I do know it's early to make this predication but I'm curious as to how the forum feels.

Your post is a waste of space!!
Obama has already said he has NO intentions of being a two term president!

Now Hilary...or another Democrat -- YES!! Hands down!!

Who's going to beat him, Sarah Palin? She probably can't even tie her own shoes. I never thought I'd see someone challenge Bush for stupidity. I was wrong.

Obama's never said that he has no intentions to run. He has only said he is willing to pass healthcare even if it makes him a one-term president, or something to that effect.

And on the OP, I don't see anyone out of the republican field who can challenge him. Their best bet is someone unknown at this point.

We will see if that is the case in late 2011. Remember at this point in 2006 it was assumed that the nomination belonged to Hillary, Obama was just a guy that gave a good speech at the 2004 convention.

Yea, but the republicans don't even have "a guy" at this point. Who are considered the rising stars/ up & comers in the party currently?

She is just a mouth piece... and can do nothing more than spew out the latest talking points. I think America will be ready to end this nightmare we have been experiencing since 2007. You will see a lot of fiscally conservative people line up.

I am not from New Jersey... but I like the way Chris Christie is dealing with the budget crisis in that state. Raising taxes is a last resort and cutting spending is priority. So far he has the teachers union in NJ pissed so he is doing something right. He is also smart enough to not follow in the footsteps of the Governor of New York who caused a mass exodus of the wealthiest residents. He will be one to watch.

The election will be based on the state of the economy. If the economy is showing definite signs of improvement, Mr Obama wins. If the economy gets worse, Mr Obama might lose.

I have no clue, I am not a Republican. The ones that have caught my interest though are people like Mitch Daniels, Paul Ryan. and Allen West to name a few off the top of my head.

it's way too early to discuss it seriously, one way or the other.

there are a bunch of GOP governors doing pretty interesting things right now that may not be well known on the national stage that I hope will get the nomination (Mitch Daniels and Tim Pawlenty immediately spring to mind)

despite the hay that the left likes to make, I really don't think Palin has a snowball's chance in hell, but Romney will probably go into the primaries as the establishment choice.

Mitch Daniels, Tim Pawlenty, Chris Christie (not running), Scott Brown (not running), Bobby Jindal, Bob McDonell, and Haley Barbour jump to mind.

Yep!

Its the economy stupid!

Clinton got a easy 2nd term as people were working and decently happy. If the economy keeps going up and there are some basic budget cuts Obama should get a 2nd term easy.

The problem for the republicans will be finding a candidate who can bridge the tea party/ mainstream divide. The only one theoretically capable of that out of those 3 is Paul Ryan, but he has a pretty thin record limited to failed legislation.

Is that a threat?

There are many things that could happen to a president.

He could have a heart attack.
He could resign.
He could be kick out of office.
He could be killed.

Only someone like yourself would think of that as a threat.

You seemingly make the same mistake as many others make regarding the Tea Party folks. They are not a monolithic block other than they all agree that they want to see fiscal sanity brought back into the Federal government along with respect and obedience to the Constitution. They purposely avoid the "social issues" which traditionally divide independents, evangelicals, conservatives, and libertarians.

So you think because the movement doesn't take a position on social issues, the followers don't either? Of course they do - and they will return to being a focal point. You can bet the dems will trot them out since they know they create wedges for republicans.

Mitch Daniels won't get a sniff of the nomination. He's too closely tied to Bush and his epic failures in office. Plus, he ain't exactly setting the world on fire as governor of Indiana.

Those are just the politicos. Your forget people like David Patreaus or John Bolton. I'd pay good money to see a debate of Obama vs Bolton.

As to Obama, we need to look back to LBJ. When Eugene McCarthy came within 6-7 points of beating him in the '68 New Hampshire primary, LBJ understood his position and folded. Hillary has kept her nose clean in the state dept and after she resigns in the next year or so, she will make a run against him. For the Democrats, dropping a president whose ratings suck and has shown that he cannot do what he promised will make it easy to nominate Hillary.

Not really. I thought of it as a nutjob shooting off his mouth. I only wondered if you thought it was a threat.

Wow. Well thought out. I think you're probably right. I don't think Obama has a snowballs chance in hell at getting re-elected so the dems will have to put somebody else up. And if I recall the 08 primaries were pretty damn close.
