got frustrated with my amatuer attempts at o clocking now all i get is a black screen (monitor working check connection)
I was able to push my bird to fsb 106 at 9.5
no luck at all with with fsb set over this (107-110) even if multiplier was set to 7.5 it will post but hang. finally I said screw this people at forums are getting 133fsb on this bird I must be doing something wrong so i set my multiplier all the way down to 5x and set my fsb to 120 now it wont even boot or post, no chance to get to my bios.

Tried turning power off several times still no luck.

1.any ideas how to get back to my bios? do I need to clear cmos (totally unfamiliar with this process). Isnt my board suppose to revert back to defalut setting if it hangs like this?

2.why am i not able to go over 106 fsb even with multiplier down to 7.5?

3. do you guys set your bios to optimal setting or fail safe setting when trying to over clock this board.

4. why was my voltage reading 1.89 at default voltage and even if I set it manually to 1.85 it still reads 1.89 (read somewhere tbirds max voltage was 1.85)

5.can anyone point me to a good idiot proof guide to overclocking with regard to prepping bios.

PS
when I was at fsb 106 and 9.5 no cooling problem 32 idle 40 max Temp

Yes,

You'll have to reset your cmos.
On the right side of your board, their should be a green tab looking thing, all you have to do is move it over one spot and then back where it was.

thats all.

I think your pro2a manual shows you how to do this.

thanks for reply will try this tonight any ideas on why I cnat get my fsb over 106? I am pretty sure it has something to do with my setting up bios. Any basic suggestions I believe we have the same board.

First computer I have built and just took the leap into overclocking it (not very succesfully as you can see)

Thanks for reply will try this, also someone had suggested to hold insert key while powering up

I have the same mobo and can barely get it POSTing at 109 FSB. This is not your fault, it is a limitation of the KT133 chipset in the Pro2As (despite the fact that there's an option in the BIOS for 133 FSB). If you truly want to go that fast, you need to get one of the newer KT133a chipset mobos (I believe MSI calls theirs the Pro2A "Turbo"), and this is what you're seeing people post about in these forums.

unplug your machine before you short the cmos jumpers!!
i've read a post where one guy said he fried his mobo b/c he forgot to do this. the manual probably suggests doing this, but it's easy to forget.

thanks for reply guys

currently have a headache raeding up on this.

will close my L7 bridges and see if the extra 1.85 voltage will improve initial load, default voltage I believe is 1.75 may not be enough when setting fsb higher.

also will alter my L6 bridges to . I I I : which should put my intial multiplier to 7x instead of 10x maybe this will improve my chances of increasing my fsb.

do you guys know about L6 bridge and if l3 or l4 need to be altered for lowering initial or default multiplier?

Thanks for warning about cmos and unplugging
Just started this yesterday and it dam addicting. I need speed speed speed!!!

just to let you know.. I had a problem when I dropped by multiplier too low... like 6 or so... the computer wouldnt boot up, and holding down insert wouldnt work.. EVEN doing the cmos reset didnt work :(.... so I erased all the pencil marks on my chip, and then it worked... kinda weird... anyone know why? it seemed that the system wouldnt really reset until teh option of that multiplier was gone *Shrugs*

guys the kt133 will just not o/c the fsb, your better off penciling in the l7 and just shooting for the highest multiplyer.
