I just built a system with a radeon 9700 pro and an intel D845PEBT2 motherboard. i turn the computer on and the monitor stays blank and the orange light on it turns on. the monitor works fine on my other pc.

any suggestions? i've tried reseating the card many times and changing which molex power connector it goes to. any help would be great!

clear CMOS ... sounds like your overclocked ... and the CPU isnt recognized anymore.

Set your BIOS settings to defaults. (CPU, MEM and AGP)

I am definitely not overclocked. I just received the motherboard brand new. The vid card works fine in another pc. I moved one of the memory chips to the other dimm and i get 3 beeps when i turn the pc on, but still no video. I have corsair xms pc3200 memory. Any ideas now?

Thanks!

I dunno the beep codes for you MB ... check your MB manual ... they have the codes in there. along with any other diagnostics. (like LEDS)

Clear CMOS as I described above.
If that doesnt work .. verify that your HSF unit is mounted properly ... (the chip may be too HOT)

How do I clear cmos? I haven't touched any jumpers or anything as they are all factory default now. I can't get into the bios since I have no ability to have video on the screen.

Thanks!

lol ... read your manual dood... its a jumper on the MB.

... also .. if there are jumpers ... you may have to set the proper FSB and voltage.

I dont recommend any settings other than defaults for your CPU and use SPD timing for memory.

I will only tell you the AGP settings that the 9700 likes.

Use 4x transfer (unless you have a 8x MB)
Use half system memory for AGP apature. (IE ... if you have 512 total mem ... AGP apature will be 256)

(Use fast writes only after verifying your system is stable)

This should get you up and running. Remember to follow instructions when installing drivers. (in your manuals)

READ !!!

YOU MUST UNDERSTAND YOUR COMPONENTS.
(or you may pay a price)

I just loaded the defaults and 256mb for agp aperture and still nothing. Would flashing the bios do anything, or would I not be able to do that since alls i can get into is the "safe" bios mode?

Thanks and I think i'm going to try out a geforce4 vid card tomorrow to make sure even though the 9700 pro works in another computer.

any other ideas would be great!

just because you you cant BOOT .... DOES NOT mean the the card is bad.

Do what you must.

BTW ... since you do see a BIOS screen now ... means the card is working
