I have Norton SystemWorks 2001 and I would like to know if it, especially AntiVirus 2001 will work on Windows XP. Symantec's website does not offer any information until XP is officially released.
Thanks

NO!!! Uninstall Norton Anti-Virus before installing Windows XP, I didn't and it completely screwed up my comp so that I had to format:(
But I don't know about SystemWorks, just get rid of NAV before you install WinXP.

NAV 2002 is pretty cool, active scans of webpages and downloads, and even a litle pop up scan box of all emails which is convenient right now, it even added an icon in the menu next to the location bar in IE 6. i like NAV 2002.....so far so good...i couldnt comment on NU2002, as i dont want any of the other stuff on my system.

It is possible to get Norton Antivirus 2001 working in XP... It works for me, though the configuration application crashes occasionally when closing it.

Here's what you do to get it working:

1) Insert the NAV2001 installation CD and continue on to Install. Windows will warn you that the product is known to have problems and will refer you to a link on Symantec's website where you can download an updated version of SYMEVENT. Save the file on your computer... you'll need it later.

2) Proceed to install NAV2001. DO NOT REBOOT.

3) Install the SYMEVENT file you got from Symantec's site. Just double-click the file and it will install itself.

4) Reboot

That's it! As I said, the actual application configuration tool sometimes crashes when I close it, but other than that it seems to work fine. If you don't want to put up with that, you can upgrade to Antivirus 2002 for about $30 direct from Symantec.

I do not know why people talk before they try something. I have Norton SystemWorks 2001 and it WORKS PERFECTLY FINE!!! There is just a small trick you have to do. When you try to install it evey like 20 sec a message will come and tell you that Systemworks is not compatible with this oper. system. Just ignore it. After you install it, run it. An error is going to come on your screen and above the error there will be a link to the norton's web site. Just click on the link and download a file which was (if i am not wrong) around 400kb. Install it and your SystemWorks will work perfectly.
This is what I did just last night. I can not live without my NAV.

I tried NSWP 2001 on XP Pro and yes it did work but not something I would call fine, various crashes with NAV, Ghost, and Speedisk is no where as fast as 2002 on a NTFS volume. Yes it works but not to the same level as 2002 and it is not integrated into the Luna interface in the same way either, maybe you should compare the two before suggesting 2001. I am not exactly an advocate of Symantec due to their upgrade costs but sometimes when a revised OS debuts it is wise to move to a version that fully supports it.
