On this idea, I don't find the sight of visible pixels particularly offensive, but the jaggy crawly, shimmery ALIASING is pretty easy to see. When you raise the resolution aliasing is less noticeable to me, and it seems like the lighter AA methods are sufficient, even if it's just a post process AA filter. At low resolutions, I find myself pumping things up to like 8xMSAA because 4xMSAA wasn't good enough, while my frame rate and videocard cry for help.

The problem with low resolution gaming and trying to pump up MSAA, is it usually is futile, not because of performance, but because MSAA misses a lot of stuff in modern games. If 4xMSAA is leaving a lot to be desired, 8xMSAA rarely improves things. Sometimes down sampling works better, or SSAA (but big performance penalty).
