i'm in the market for a netbook and read about 2nd gen atom coming in jan 2010. i'd be willing to delay purchasing if pineview has 1080p decode acceleration

the problem is some websites say pineview will, some say it won't:

Pineview "won't be able to do 1080p [high-def] video. We can," Ragones said.

... or based on Intel Pineview platform that also comes with improved graphics and hardware high-definition video decoding

anyone know the real answer?

We won't know for certain until its launched. The real question will be will any netbooks have 1080p screens.

Doesnt matter of they have 1080P screens, alot of them now have HDMI ports so its easy to hook up to a TV for video playback.

Yes and No depending on how you are looking at. No, because the chipset itself won't support 1080p acceleration in hardware, Yes because Broadcom HD chip can be bundled with the platform. Reports are the Broadcom HD chip combo is cheaper than ION, so it might be more common than one might think.
