Will NewEgg ever go bad?

NewEgg still has great prices and user satisfaction, but do you think they'll ever (soon) go bad? Look at Dell and other companies. Started out being excellent, ended up with poor customer service, high prices, etc. Fame and $ ruins many online sellers...

How about you think this if you were in the role of the CEO him/herself? Would you want more money?

Hell yeah.

Times have changed, it's called price inflation. Newegg's customer service is still the best. I still get excellent shipping even though newegg switched from fedex to ups for default shipping method.

It seemed two years ago or so Newegg started slipping when they started charging for shipping as well as dipping CS levels. I think in the last year Newegg has been doing pretty well again. I have never had any problems with their CS lately and would only applaud them.

I haven't seen any downward turn. They've always been excellent through and through. I've never had a problem.

dell doesn't have high prices compared to HP or IBM.

newegg has already gone downhill years ago. i remember their refurb section to be a goldmine of bargains... esp video cards and mobos. now their prices are pretty lame, shipping costs more and their website is too fancy and takes too long to load.

I haven't really used them since ZZF is far friendlier to Alaskan customers as far as shipping rates go. But they have certainly grown a lot, and I wish ZZF had their selection.

Shipping seems to have gone up, but other than that, I don't see much to complain about. Their service has always been good.

Other than the UPS... I think we'll see a little price-jacking (I mean you can already get better deals on ZZF/MWave on a lot of products), nothing major

How any anybody shop at zipzoomfly? Unless you already know what you want, its impossible to find and compare items.

There are other online stores that are just as great. The thing that puts newegg above the rest is their website. Newegg has always had the best website.

One Name sums it up best:
  • WAL*MART

Their old slogan was bring it home to the usa. They used to brag about how they were always creating new manufacturing jobs in the USA. But when Sam Walton died and his evil heirs took over, the company has never been the same since.

i dont get how you go from a small company with the lowest prices offering free shipping on nearly everything to a larger company thats got run of the mill prices and charges just as much for shipping as every other company. They must've grown their customer base leaps and bounds when just starting and they (the customers) must continue going there reguarless of the price difference. They also expanded their product lines way too diversly, which probobly has been the cause for the price increases.
I wish newegg didnt get so greedy and just remained a simple computer parts (with a large selection of "generic"/oem items) than the track they have gone down.

No they've got what I call Gamer Fever

Companies like Creative, Ageia, Bigfoot Netiworks (Killer Nic), Logitech, etc all have it. They charge an uncesessary premium for a product or service and market it to the gamer crowd. Such "Gamer Products" Or "Gamer Grade" don't really cost much more to produce yet they charge more for it. Newegg has been for the past few years aiming most of their marketing at this audience. Somehow they think becasue we sit at home all day playing video games instead of working that we have tons of extra cash to burn. When it's just the opposite, gamers are a fiscally broke crowd that try their best to save a buck because they would rather be playing than working to earn a buck.

Going bad would be a matter of opinion... I've yet to have a problem with Newegg and if I did, I'd stop buying from them...

/I check with tha' Egg before any other on-line retailers - and guess what? Newegg comes in FTW!

!!

Something like $5 shipping on a $3 item doesn't look very attractive. I think NewEgg might already have started to go bad.

I didnt know they had a lot of items that they would not accept a return on and everything had a restocking fee.
Bought a bunch of parts from the 'egg- the mobo was just flat out dead, the RAM was very very sketchy (wouldnt post half the time, tried diff mobo's/settings- all other sticks worked great).
Had to tell my parents they would not accept the mobo back and since I was only in town for a couple days they had to go buy one from frys so I could get it working.
Now, it does say on the product description they wont take it back, so I'm not saying it's not my fault, but deff. left a very sour taste in my mouth. The hassel was NOT worth the money I saved- I should have just got the whole system from frys (parts I mean).
That, and I paid for 2 day shipping but one of my boxes was shipped ground- no explination why and yes, I did contact them.
