Will new case fans just drown out my Thermaltake Volcano 6cu+?

Im thinking about changing my hs/f because the 7000rpm fan (actually runs at about 7400) is so noisy. But I had also thought about modding my case and putting in two Sunon 120mm 108cfm fans at 42dba each. Will I be able to hear my volcano 6cu+ over the new case fans, or is it worth replacing it? Im not really happy with my temps either. Athlon XP 1600 on Asus A7V266, 48c idle 53c full load.

Are you OC'ing? Did you use ASII, ASIII? When I was running A7V266 my temps were 41C Idle 47C Full load and that was with a cheap coolermaster HSF.

I have the 6CU and I've added other fans (only 3). The thing with my 6CU is that it's a really high pitch sound. No matter how many other fans I had running nothing ever cut out that high pitch scream. I hate it.

No I am not overclocking and I used OCZ's version of Artic Silver called OCZ Quicksilver II. I dont think thats the problem because I have had lower temps. with standarad silicon compound in different systems. Both the fans I am installing are 42dba and I am hoping it will drown out that whiny Thermaltake fan. Like you said Thera, it is really high pitched.

I don't know if it will cut it. but the 6cu+ is the only fan in my case. If my computer is on, I can hear it as soon as I walk in the door to my house, which is a good 25 feet from the door, and around a 90 degree turn. I opted for the svc gc68. Got it from case-mod.com with some artic alumina for free. I've heard good things about the gc68, and it's rated at only 28 dba vs. 39dba. I'm gonna try and sell the 6cu+ to some sap who doesn't know or doesn't care about the noise 😉
