I bought a new CPU, MOBO, and Case about a year ago I Just bought the cheapest case I could find it was like $41 and it came with a 420W PSU.

I'm going to be getting a new video card and more Ram in Sept. 1GB or Ram and Maybe a 6800 GT or a X800XL or somthing simular I'm thinking I will need a better case for cooling right now this cheap case dosen't have any fans.

what do you think ?

The rest of my system is:
XP 3200
250 GB hard drive
16X DL DVD writer

Thanks guys !

haha, ok sorry but it was a super cheap no-name, case generic I think you call it, basically it has no fans thats what I most concerned about, would you get a new case if you where me ?

would it help if I took pictures of it ?

Pics would certainly help.

While it's common for modern cases to have fans, it's not absolutely necessary. If your hardware can manage to stay within reasonable temperatures, you should be OK. You could always try the new hardware in your old case and see how cool it stays with its own cooling.

You could also get something like this for $3.99:

this seems like the best idea. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that a $41 '420w' PSU that came with a case is not putting out 420 watts of power. If you still have heat issues, most high-end cases don't have PSUs with them anyways. So if you buy the power supply now you can just swap it into the good case and put the el-cheapo back into your original case.

Ok here is how it is. Case fans are a LUXURY. They sound cool, push air, and make your parts live longer. However contrary to popular belief THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED AT ALL if everything in your pc is running at stock clocks and settings. Anything in the case that needs to be cooled so badly will already have a heatsink or fan or both.

Your pc may run warm, but it will work just fine. I may reccomend a decent power supply, as the ones that come with cases tend to be of very poor quality.

i agree w/ everyone else. any case that's $41 and comes w/ a PSU which is supposedly "420W". chances are slim to none it's a 1/2 way decent PSU.

may want to replace it w/ at least a 350W or above antec or thermaltake PSU.

Bah. Get some fans dude, you don't want to fry your parts. And definately a new power supply. "Crappy generic" + "Included power supply" = Fried system ;).
