Will my power supply cut it?

I notice the description for the TRUE480 doesn't state that it has a connection for the PCIe card and only has two SATA connectors.

I plan on having three SATA devices and a PCIe card. Will this still work? Thanks!

not sure, my true480 did not have a adaptor for PCI-E, perhaps you can buy a adaptor seperately.

Usually the graphics card comes with one. If it doesn't, you can buy one separately just about anywhere that sells computer parts.

What the heck do you think people are doing? Throwing away their PSUs when they buy a new graphics card or a SATA hard drive?

Why would it "fry" your 6800U? It's just a different connector than the AGP cards use.

just trying to sort out the information... It seems that if enough power doesn't go to the card, the fan won't spin fast enough and the card will fry. IF what I read was correct.....

I don't know where you read that, but I've never heard of such a thing happening unless the fan on the card was defective. If it doesn't have enough power for the *fans*, it definitely wouldn't have enough power for the *giant 100W GPU* attached to it, and your system would probably not boot.

Quick question, the SATA & PCIe connectors are one in the same correct?

I haven't used PCIe, and PSU's state SATA connector, but not PCIe. That's why I'm asking.

No. They are not the same. However, both can be adapted from standard 4-pin molex connectors with appropriate cables. Many PSUs nowadays have a few SATA connectors, but ones with the 6-pin PCIe connectors are still fairly rare (but slowly becoming more common). Since you can convert them with a $2 cable, PSU makers are apparently not in a big hurry to retool their product lines to include them.

I've seen ppl saying if you have SATA connectors, you don't need any adaptor. I have/use SATA on my PSU, and HDD's, but nothing says anything about PCIe.

Thanks again, that makes more sense.

If you are going to RMA get a better quakity and higher power PSU. OCZ Modstream 520 or 600
lots of sata connectors and very stable PSU here.

Will never fry the card for lack of power. Built in protection. It will shut down to safe power levels if power is too low.

Yes. That will work.

I've dealt with Directron... They say stuff is in stock, and it isn't. But they still bill you while you're waiting. I also ordered double boxing for my Lian Li case, which I never got and was charged for.

I argued with them, but never got my money for double boxing back...
