will my old hp computer work?

well, i have an old computer in my room, and i need something thats pretty mobile. this computer has an HP mobo, 667MHz celeron, 256MB pc100 ram. the on board sound has a speaker output, microphone input (won't use that obviously), and a line in. if i get windows 2000 or xp pro on this machine will it run adobe audition? i don't use pro tools mostly because i have no money for it...

i guess the only two things i'm worried about at this point is the quality of the line in input and the processing power to handle adobe audition.

my "main" computer has all brand new parts, 2.8ghz p4, 1gb pc3200 ram, its pretty good, just not mobile.

It would work, but not well.
The software is going to run like crap on that system, my grandfather has an old hp celeron 700 MHz and it is awful. I would not, under any circumstances, use the onboard audio though. If you want to give it a shot with that PC, I would at least look into getting a sound card aimed at digital recording. You can get entry-level pro cards between 100 and 200$. I use the Echo MIAmidi personally and it is awesome.
