Will my motherboard run an AMD 64 X2? You be the Judge!

I know I'm a newbie in the forums and I bow before the geniuses here to help me with a question:
Currently I have a MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard running an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Processor.
I was hopping to upgrade to a dualcore processor with the recent price drops but was a little perplexed when the manual (of the motherboard) says it is designed for AMD 64/FX processors...
So the question: Can I put a dualcore x2 in there? They are both socket 939....

It might need a BIOS update to run the X2s.

a quick check of the msi website shows that it is x2 ready

and yes update the bios before installing your x2.
