Will my link-local topology work?

I am currently in the process of getting some field systems available wirelessly just to remove some points of failure out there. They are having a lot of issues with cables getting damaged and dirtied.

All of these systems are the same, and all of them run on their own independent, link-local network. Each piece of equipment contains a PLC and a networked computer:

PLC, always 169.254.0.1
Computer, always 169.254.0.2

This is a topology diagram (MS paint, 2 minutes, sorry!) of the network. My question is whether or not there are any major concerns with this network model. I don't typically use link-local configurations, but without a specific IP scheme for their equipment, I can see why it was easier for them. I have established connectivity through the MOXA. Sometimes it is slow, but I am not sure if that's just my signal, or some underlying architectural issue around the flow of data.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you.
