Will my Klipsch 5.1's work with this receiver?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a Klipsch DD-5.1 or Creative DDTS-100. So I've sort of given up and am just looking for a cheap regular receiver. I found this Sherwood RD-6500 at CC for a decent price, but I'm just worried about impedence and pre-outs etc. So if anyone has experience hooking up klipsch 5.1's to a regular receiver I'd much appreciate it

No it doesn't....Klipsch are very nice inexpensive speakers, why put them on such a decroded peice of crap for a receiver???? spend a bit more and get an Onkyo receiver, they have a couple out with 6.1 and they are only about $200-$250.

those are computer speakers, you are better off getting a Xfi elite pro for the klipsch as that card will have all the ins and outs you will need for about the same price as a decent receiver

The Klipschs have really low impedance inputs. Pre-outs will likely not drive them well. I tried.

I'm just trying to use my klipsch 5.1's with my dvd player as I've sold my desktop now. So I just want the cheapest decoder that will work and the dd-5.1 and ddts-100 are hard to find at a decent price.

What do you consider reasonable?

The klipsch pre-amp goes for $150 on ebay, which is about what they were when they sold them.

They used to go for a lot more... I wish I would have sold mine back then. I managed to buy mine for $60 on clearence.

You might want to keep an eye on this, it looks the exact same as the klipsch, but silver.

Here is what I did.
The rear channel amp started buzzing on my Klipsch. I bought a $300 onkyo AV rec and connected the front and rears speakers to the rec. Used a pair of Polk Audio bookself speakers (M30) as a center channel (Imaging with a single center channel speaker on a PC just does not sound right, hence 2, 1 above and 1 bellow the monitor) I took the sub preout and sent into the Klipsch sub/amp. I'm using an xfi music sound card. I use analog out for music and games. Digital out is used for DVDs. Now all I need is a recliner instead of an office chair and I'm set.

X-Fi XtremeMusic > Onkyo-TXSR503 > Klipsch 4.1 and Polk M30 x 2 center channel.

I'm looking for something around 100 used or 150 new, and thanks for the info ziscwg. I'm thinking of just connecting the sats straight to the receiver and using the sub pre-out and it looks like it worked for you and your Onkyo-TXSR503 outputs at 8 ohm.
