will my hardware work for the 64-bit version

Give me a break. I was in a rush to buy it because I've waited so long. Upon further review, the issues with the 64-bit version are greater than I had thought initially.

When I went to track my orders on the newegg site the order that includes the OS is still in stage one. "Step 1: Your order has been successfully submitted. Your credit/debit card has not yet been charged. Please allow 1-2 business days for your order to process and ship."

Do you think it is worth canceling half my ****** to get the 32-bit version? Will I lose money by doing this?

Looks ok to me,FYI Vista x64 support is a lot better then XP 64 bit version,I have all my Vista x64 drivers for all my hardware, not bad for a 4 week old OS 😉.

Hmmm one of the worst posts I have ever seen and the above statement not even justified.

64 bit version has a few advantages over 32 bit version, better security, larger memory handling, more future proof, no crappy 16 bit software in the OS.

Virtually all companies are supplying both Vista 32 and 64 bit drivers now so they can have WHQL cert from Microsoft, one of the smarter moves Microsoft made was by only allowing WHQL certification when companies submit both Vista 32 and 64 bit drivers.

Some people think we will stay on 32 bit forever, just remember with 64 bit Vista you get best of both worlds, good luck trying to run 64 bit software down the road on Vista x68 😉.

So you'd recommend to someone that doesn't even know if it's compatible to go through the great battle that is getting 32bit software to work in a 64bit environment?

Future proof my ass. His hardware is compatible with 64bit operating systems. There's your future proof. Why would he need to even waste effort installing a 64bit OS that's nearly worthless to the average person.

Performance gain is nearly unnoticable. I asked if he had 3 or more gigs of ram because 32bit operating systems only show a fraction of it.

He asked if his hardware is fine for 64 bit,as far as I can see in his hardware specs it is,as to 32 bit software there are very few 32 bit software that won't work with Vista x64 ,the main thing with any software you install and use is to check if the software is compatible with Vista ,regardless of whether it is Vista x64 or x68,if it works with Vista x68 then 99.99% chance it'll work with Vista x64 too.

I'm using Vista x64 as I type this post so I'm talking through experience,I can tell you I'm running all my XP 32 bit programs that I use just fine with Vista x64 and a lot of games too.

As to effort hmm took me 20 minutes to install Vista x64 ,some effort,as to drivers I have them all at this time(only had 2 missing on 30th Jan on installation which were Winfast DTV tuner and ColorVision SpyderExpress USB driver, which are now both available for download from their respective websites).I do have 64 bit software installed too.

If you want a list of my 32 bit and 64 bit software and games I have installed ,I'll be happy to post them.

I checked microsofts site. It should be fine. Down the line I plan on purchasing another 2GBs. I just wanted to run it by the forum here in case I missed something. I don't have first hand experience with this ******.
