Will my current GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 run DDR3 RAM?

This may be an incredibly stupid question, but I am in the middle of an upgrade (grabbing most parts now but waiting until the i5 760 and motherboard I want come back in stock) and I am wondering if the RAM I picked up can be used on my current motherboard until I get the new one (eta ~2 weeks?).

My current mobo is the GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965, and the specs says standard memory supported is DDR2:

I don't know if that means it only handles DDR2, or if it will dumb down my new DDR3 (G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666))), or if it will use it at normal speeds or whatever. The RAM is 240-pin and so are the RAM slots on that mobo, so my almost-arbitrary guess is that it will work?

Thanks everyone.

No. Nevermind the fact that they operate differently and are designed to not be used in the same RAM slot, DDR3 wasn't even released when the P965 chipset was made.

Oh, you can plug it in all you want. But I wouldn't fire up the system after you did. Signaling and voltage pins are completely different, and you'll fry everything.

now would be a very good time to admit you were drunk or high while making that post :)
