thats the question.. my actual nvidia 6800XT agp detects 1440x900 without problems...
 
The X1900XT can easily cope with abosolutely anything you will throw at it in 1440x900.

As said, some games don't support widescreen resolutions, but since you've already been running the monitor on a 6800 you probably know that and also probably know that there are tweaks to enable widescreen in games like Battlefield 2.
 
It's true but it's tweakable by adding this line at the end of the BF2's target box:
" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200"
Since my is a 2405fpw, you can change the 1920 and 1200 to whatever your w/s native resolution is.
