Ah crap.
Forgot about the deductible.
Just called the stealership and they want $956! Unreal! The auto glass places are all around $300.

I found a huge crack in the windshield yesterday. Looks like a rock hit it. Prices for windshields are around $300 out of pocket.
Thanks.

$300? Had to replace a windshield on a car last year, and it was only $140 installed.

It will not make your current rate go up, but it could be grounds for a hike in a future quote if you ever get another insurance company.

Depends on your coverage.
Most of the big insurance companies include glass repair for something like $50 deductible, but not all. Other times it's part of your comp coverage. Other times it's free (usually if they repair the window and don't replace it).
It really depends on your policy. Without looking at it, I can't tell you if it is covered or not (and if it is what coverage it's using).
To answer the OP:
If you don't have any kind of coverage for it, then no it won't affect rates
If you have to file it under comp, then no it shouldn't affect rates (comp claims *generally* don't affect your rates, but can in certain situations and states)
If you have glass coverage, then no it shouldn't affect rates (once again unless certain circumstances, but generally it won't)
Best advice I can give you, is to call your agent and ask about glass coverage on your policy. They should be able to tell you what your policy covers.

We had AAA. $50 deductable and the glass companies waive it.
Now we have USAA and the deductable for comp is $500.

They don't have a separate clause for auto glass?

Seriously!
I had to get my Infiniti windshield replaced and it cost me $220. This car is a Scion tC and it's costing more. I can't believe the stealership had the balls to quote me $956.

I bet the stealership outsources their window work to other shops. $656 profit for almost nothing.![]()
