Will MS screw the pooch with ReFS?

Seems MS is cooking up a new flavor on Win 10, aimed at the "workstation" crowd.
I really, really hope they don't make it so Resilient file system is locked to "workstation" only.

Even Apple just announced their newer FS, dubbed Apple File System, or AFS/APFS for their new OS version.

Windows really needs ReFS to be available to all flavors of the OS, and be bootable.
(Yes, I know you can use it now for some things, but the non bootable part is the deal breaker for many people.)

A few words on why or what is resilient in this file system and why we should care?

A quick search says it's all about keeping data save but when was the last time anyone got a bad file that wasn't caused by a bad drive?
We used to get the filecheck screen from windows all the time in ye olden days but the last few years it hardly ever happens,at least I never saw it in the last few OSes.

If memory servers, they were (MS) were planning this for the Windows 8 rollout, but held back until they could overcome the performance issues.

Pending sectors can uglify files at random, I'd imagine that's what the advanced checksumming is for. The 4% lower performance compared to NTFS is a bit of a turnoff though. What they need is a performance file system as Apple is doing, gearing it for SSDs, and an archival filesystem (like ReFS) for additional partitions.

MS managed to take away the possibility for me to make new refs-partitions with an autumn update a year or so ago. Now to the question:

My REFS-array I made in 2015 is still up and running, but if a drive dies (2-way mirror) and I want to replace that with a new, will Windows be able to format my new drive to REFS or am I screwed?

I'm feeling that MS has kidnapped my data in a sense here. I guess i could spend 200 usd on an external drive, put all my files there, reformat the old refs to a ntfs -VHD and move the files back, but I'm, not that keen on shilling out $200 just to be able re -partition my harddrives. What happens tomorrow? Are MS deprecating NTFS for the next filesystem, making me unable to add new drives to an existing array?

This move they did with removing support for REFS in win 10 must be the shittiest move in a very long time anyways.

They didn't remove support from all versions of Win10. What version are you using?

Did I see that I bought 10 pro on one of the most selling arguments at the time? I know I can't make another refs, I have come to a close with that. But, it's nerfed, the functionality is there, I can still read it, it's fully an economic thing, my refs drives have been chuggin along for three years without support, now. Am I able to add additional disks? Has anyone tried it and succeeded?
