Will Minecraft run on this older machine?

I had someone ask me if their favorite game (Minecraft) would run on this particular configuration:

AthlonXP 3200
2 GB RAM
nForce 2 chipset

I know nothing about Minecraft... any ideas?

I was able to run it barely on my parents crappy laptop, but I don't know what the specs were. Pretty sure it had a much better processor though.

If you turn down the settings, you might be able to manage. But Minecraft is surprisingly CPU/memory hungry.

It would "run" with a semi decent discrete video card.

It would not run well.

If he's using integrated GPU, I don't think the slide show that he would see could be considered "working."

It barely runs on my laptop, i would consider it borderline unplayable for larger areas with tons of stuff built and lighting going on.

And thats on a Core2Duo at 2.2Ghz with 4GB of ram and a ATI 4570.

So i wouldnt hold your breath on it working well or at all on that machine.

Video card makes a HUGE difference. I had to upgrade my wife's computer so the kids could play on it.
