Use Dawn Dishwashing soap (the blue one) and wash the car with that. That will strip everything off of the paint (like old wax) and make it perfect for waxing again.

Turtle Wax actually makes a real car polish? Surprising. (Wax and polish are two different things). If so, then yeah, it's ok to put a different brand of wax over a polish. But in the future, you should go out and buy some better products; Meguiar's, Mother's, and 3M, are probably the most readily available GOOD products. Avoid Turtle Wax and Armor All.
