Will Maxtor ATA/100 Add more stress?

If i add an ATA/100 pci card have my hd run at 100 will there be morestreess on it. My FSB is currently 150 and i have a ASUS P3V4X.

Hmm..that's a good question. I don't think there would be any more stress on the HDD itself. The throughput should just be greater. It won't spin any faster or anything, just transfer data faster. Now be sure you get a good ATA100 card that can handle high FSB.

What brand of ATA100 controller were you looking at getting? Promise, HighPoint, Maxtor?

I recently moved my 2 Seagates from a plain old ATA66-controller to my onboard highpoint-370 (I had my reasons not to use it in the past).
I am now running these two drives at ATA-100 instead of ATA-66, and in RAID0-setup!
Results: Temp increased by 3°Celsius. So much for increased stress.
