How will Max Payne run on this setup?

Pentium 3-866
256MB RAM
Geforce 2MX 400

Can I expect decent Frame Rates?

That's a decent setup for Max Payne. As long as you don't put everything on max.

I used to run Max Payne fine on a

Pentium 3 800EB
512 MB SDRAM
Radeon 32 DDR

1024x768@32 bit with medium settings.

You would benefit most from a faster video card, but yours should do fine.

I even ran Max Payne on a V3, but had to lower quite a few settings.

Max Payne? You play the game over and over again or you haven't played it at all ? I simply went through it and thats it...

Is Max Payne worth buying? I've heard some good and bad reviews about it. Some say it's 'same old same old' just that the slow-down thing makes the game. Or is this game really that good? And what about multiplayer value? Or replay value?

The game is pretty good, but there's no replay value.

I wouldn't buy it full-price, but I'd split it with a friend or grab it once it hits the bargain bin.

I ran it on a P3-800 w/ a GeForce2 MX and it was fine at 1024x768 16-bit.

Unless your the type that demands 60+ FPS then it should perform acceptably at fairly high details, though not maxed out at 1024x768x16bpp.

Yup! Yur good to go. I played it all the way through on Celeron 7666 @ 862 with 256 pc100 and geforce 256 sdr. I could set it 1024 x 768 and high enough deetail to enjoy without alot of slowdown.

It will run fine . . . even before upgrading my desktop, it ran details maxed with a PIII800 and a Radeon 64VIVO (384MB PC133).

It even runs good - 1024x768@32bits with details at mid on my PIII866M Inspiron 4100 Notebook - 320MB PC133 and 16MB DDR ATI Mobility Radeon.

It's a good game although a bit short (Serious Sam, SE - now THAT'S short!).

It runs like 90 on my system using my overclocked RADEON 7500 (335 core, 540 memory) with everything maxed out at 1600x1200.
