After spending hours on the net and particlulary on www.mandrakeforum.com, I am still as dumb as the chair I'm sittin' on. Those linux sites are so confusing, I still have no idea where the forum on www.mandrakeforum.com is.
Anyway, I was just wondering if Mandrake 8.2 Beta 3 supports NTFS file system. Also, can Windows read EXT2, XFS or any other Linux-file-system formatted drives?

Only if the linux kernel it uses supports it. I know you can read NTFS, but writing is apparently bad. And no, Windows on its own cannot read ext?fs, XFS, reiserFS, etc.

You can read NTFS partitions fairly reliably, writing will corrupt the partition eventually although there are workarounds.

There are a few tools to read ext2 drives in NT, even a filesystem driver that makes it look like a regular drive, but the only one I used was e2explore (or soemthing like that). But that's the only filesystem it'll read, XFS, reiserfs, etc have no drivers or attempts even made AFAIK.
