Will living next to a major highway in NJ affect my health?

Looking to move to a place in New Jersey about a quarter mile from a MAJOR HIGHWAY travelled by trucks, etc.

As long as I keep my windows closed, will the air inside my apt be ok and I won't hurt my health? Or is one screwed either way?

In the average house, the air is 5 times more poluted than the air outside, so I doubt their will be much difference. I think the main health issue will be pschological, from the constant noise.

<insert obligatory "Living anywhere in NJ will affect your health" post here>

Seriously, I doubt it'll make a difference.

Sure. It'll make it quicker to get to the doctor, or for the ambulance to get to you. That'll improve your health :)

Nah, you tune it out. As previously stated I work about 40 feet from I-287 and I live ~30 feet off a pretty busy road. I don't even hear the cars anymore. Just the sirens.

What are you talking about? New Jersey is small...

Well I mean compared to NJ parkway and a lot of the bigger highways...

Around here (the northeast) we are packed pretty tight man :)

Sometimes I have to laugh... I'd bet there are more cars on that (little) highway during rush hour than there are cars in my whole state. (Including the ones being used as lawn ornaments) It's almost impossible to imagine living next to that.
