Will LCD's be cheaper any time soon?

As I look into purchasing a new TV, my hopes of getting a good tv for a personally affordable price are dwindling. Are new technologies coming out soon that will make it possible for a guy like me to get a good (aka samsung/LG/toshiba/sony/etc.) 30-odd-inch LCD for ~$600? Please tell me it will be so!

With careful shopping you should easily be able to score a tier-1 company made 32 inch LCD HDTV for about $600 provided you're ok with 720p ... I've seen Toshiba's & Samsungs in range recently.

If you are willing to go with a no-name I'd suggest Olevia ... I got my 532H 32-incher for $459 back in December & it has a very good picture.

I gotta agree with the Olevia comment. My 32" seems just as good as any other. Color sharp, picture sharp (supports 1080i), seems just as good as any sony/lg/etc. And I only paid $400 for mine

Have LCD (I suppose Plasma, too) prices kinda leveled off in the last 4-6 months? I've been keeping my eye on some Olevia (537, 532, 232) prices and they don't seem to be falling as fast as they did last year. Before Christmas of 06 prices were right around $1000 for a 37". After Christmas around February/March prices fell quite a bit. A 37" could be had for $700-$800 while a 32" was around 550-600. Just doesn't seem like they've fallen much at all this year.

Those graphs are somewhat skewed with refurbs thrown in there at times.

My goal is to have a decent 32" for under $500 shipped.
