Oh, and if I grab an OEM one for $170, will my heatsink/fan from a retail 900mhz tbird be enough?

You should be able to do 12.5 * 105 on your old board, no problem. Kind of a waste of a nice OCable CPU though.

The fan might be enough, and might work for years. But I would recommend paying the $20 or so for a new HSF, as $20 is a lot less than $170 or whatever you are paying for your 1.3 tbird.

My KT7 actually runs it at 104 x 12.5 = 1300 Mhz. Although I bought a 1000 Mhz AXIA oem cpu and it is maxed out on this board at 1338 mhz @ 1.70v core. Seems like there is plenty of room left with this cpu

Hey, thanks.

Here's the story, we're doing a family wide CPU swap, with me buying a 1.3, passing my 900 to my father, who passes his PII 400 to my brother (his 233mhz notebook that his college made him buy isn't cutting it anymore).

We have gobs of good PC100 and very cheap PC133 memory floating around, it's not worth it to go to ddr, what would be a good and cheap socket A mobo for my dad in his new system? Overclocking not an issue.
