Will jumping on P67 now instead of waiting for the Z67 limit my upgrade paths?

I know that waiting for the Z67 will allow me to have both overclocking and integrated video together but will it also allow for a longer upgrade path?

Will the P67 support future 8core 2600k variants or is that something that will go with the Z67 only?

More to the point. Am I limiting myself in any real way by jumping on the P67 as opposed to waiting for the Z67 assuming I don't care about integrated video?

The hybrid SSD thing is a pretty cool feature of z67. That would be my reason for waiting.

I don't know where your coming from but yes, I believe it will.

P67 is Socket 1155 while Z67 will be Socket 2011 replacing the high end Socket 1366.

You will require a new CPU if you upgrade to Sandy Bridge but then want a Z67 board later this year.

I would wait.

No that is incorrect, the Z67 chipset is a Socket 1155 platform and launching roughly Q2 2011.

My bad, you are correct. I would have thought the Z67 would have superseded the X58 but that is the new X68 which will be Socket 2011.

Now I question why Intel is having a third chipset variant (Z67) for Sandy Bridge only a couple of months after the launch. The difference between the H67 and P67 is obvious.

Z67 (Z68?) and P67 should have the same upgrade paths as they are the same sockets.

yeah, but z67 will fill that niche market for extreme overclockers who don't want a video card. It should just have 1x16x pci-e2.0 slot, but I'm sure it will end up in many cases with 3 or 4 for some unknown reason...
