Will it work?

I was thinking of getting a new comp with only the Thermaltake M9 case fan working(2x120mm) and the PSU Corsair HX520! No other fan

I would get the Thermalright Ultra120 for the E8400 processor and the Thermalright HR-03 GT for the Asus EN8800GT.

Would it be a problem when playing demanding 3d games? Will it get hotter than stock fan-cooling?

I will OC the processor to around 3.6ghz

I just need a quiet system for when I watch movies.

I would get the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev2 for the video card as that seems the "hot ticket" (pun intended) for passively cooling 8800GT cards. Indeed, you can score an ECS 8800GT with the S1 already installed, thus saving you $30. If you look around you'll see many success stories regarding that cooler with your chosen GPU for purely passive cooling.

For the CPU... I'd recommend a Scythe Ninja. The reason is that the fins are farther apart than the Thermalright, and thus better for low airflow conditions. I'm currently using one passively on an E6750 running at 3.2GHz with an undervolted 120mm Yate Loon exhaust fan behind it, and I'm not even running at max overclock.

that was pretty bad zap, wow.

I second the Ninja, and I'm a Tr fanboy.

hey you guys think itll fit in the thermaltake m9? cuz I think itll be too big and won't be able to put the side panel of the case ... also, If I fit the HR-03 PLUS I don't think I would be able to fit a high-end cooler on the cpu... damn

If you don't need your bottom slots, you can put your HR-03 on facing down, like the Accelero. There's always the Ninja Mini if the big Ninja won't fit, but it's not quite as good.

Edit: I recommend that you check out the SPCR forums, as they will probably have much better suggestions for silentness than AT readers, no offense to AT people 😛

thats going to depend more on the motheboard than the case though with most, if not all, p35 boards you'll have to face the hr-03 down instead of up, which will function just as well as putting the heatsink above so long as the case has enough airflow. That opens the area above the video card up so you only have to worry about the heatsink inadvertantly contacting the northbridge. I have to agree with Zep 100%, I think you'd be best served wtih an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 with the turbo module and a Scythe Ninja Plus with a good set of fans on the front and rear. I'd suggest something like the Yate Loon Medium or the Scythe Slipstream 1200rpm or even the new Zalman ZM-F3 running on 7 volts.

You're attempting to use an M9 case as a quiet computer? Difficult.....because of the fan right up front. Any/all noises from the inside of the case, from the front fan itself, and from the intake airflow, will be quite audible from the front.....where you will be seated.

And...Termaltake cases usually have very thin/flimsy panels that vibrate and amplify noise. I can't find the panel thickness, but it's probably much less than a good heavy case which use .8mm steel or thicker.
