My computer just got fried...everything but a few sticks of ram and my old XTX 6600 Nvidia survived. Anyways its all useless due to the ram being DDR and my graphics card is outdated. I cant afford a new box till next year ( income tax ). Soooo I was wondering if someone can tell me if this cheap box will at least run on the LOWEST settings, these games : Lotro, EQ2 and WoW. Thanks in advance and yes I know this box sucks but its all I can afford plus I need it for .. at the least .. work/web surfing :'( .......

I dont really understand the details of your post. Was the graphics card in the computer when the computer "fried"? And what do you mean by "fried"? And I dont know if nVidia ever made a XTX6600. They made a 6600GT. If you were using that card in the computer, it may have been too much for the power supply, which I am sure is very weak in that computer.

If the comp is working properly after the incident, the processor is decent and I am sure it would run the games you mentioned. If the power supply was not damaged, you might be able to add a low end card like a AMD HD5570. This should allow you to play those games at low to med settings. You could get one from New Egg for around 70.00, give or take. It does not take much power.

It would be helpful if you could look at the power supply and tell us how many watts it is rated for and how many amps are on the 12v rail.

I guess what I am asking is will games like LOTRO, WoW and EQ2 play on this model ... HP Model p6804 with graphics : ATI Radeon HD 3000 ... not at all familiar with the power supply it comes with as it will not tell me via specs ( haven't bought it yet ). Just hoping that I can run the named games on the lowest setting is all I really care about. To at the least play is more important then high settings. I know its a sucky computer but its really for work mostly and all I can afford as my other computer is no longer operational.

just something i started. didn't look too hard for combos or anything, but components are cheap now. you can tweak it here and there depending on what you need. wasn't sure if you needed a harddrive or case or anything, but the asgard II or gamma won't set you back more than 40 and you can always find harddrives on special.

The point people are trying to get across is that you can, for 299$ or less, build something better then you can by buying that 299$ HP you think on buying.

You just said that the ONLY thing that broke is your ram and XTX 6600 nvidia card, and that everything else survived.
Is this correct?

From context, I'm actually pretty sure he meant "everything fried, but a few sticks of RAM and the nV card did manage to survive", otherwise he wouldn't be buying a complete system, and he also mentioned that the RAM and vidcard are useless anyway, meaning it's no use that they survived the frying event because they are now outdated.

From context it would seem that way but its not what he actually said, this is why I am asking. I understand not everyone has perfect English so I asked him to clarify.

Of course :) I know you already knew (more or less) what he meant but wanted to be sure, so I replied merely as a way to reinforce what you already knew to be true, as a way to possibly coax you into going ahead with the advice you are planning to give once you are more confident in the perceived "correct" interpretation. Nothing more.

well, first of, OP, what makes you believe certain components are fried and others are not? did you test each component in an equivalent working machine?
