Will it damage anything to install an older set of Via 4 in 1's?

As you can see from my other post, my computer is randomly restarting itself for no apparent reason. It's never done this before in the 4 months that I've had it. The only thing I've changed recently is the Via 4 in 1's (upgraded from v4.33 to v4.36). Can I install the 4.33 version to see if the problem goes away, or will that create new problems?

Thanks,

I did the same thing, the 4.36's aren't too good in my opinion, I went back to the 4.33's
Just install them over what you have in there, Windows will redirect the drivers.

That's the reason they keep the older drivers available for download, as some systems lose the stability with the newer drivers.

Go ahead and reinstall them...it won't hurt. If you're using WinXP you can do a driver rollback and set them to the previous version.

There are two versions of 4.36s. The newer one (4.36a) causes my sound card (soundblaster pci128) to be totally useless... the original 4.36 worked just fine for me.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. My Shuttle AK31A runs perfectly with default Windows XP 4-in-1 drivers. Even on viaarena.com it says not to install new versions if your system is running smoothly.

My EP-8KHA+ runs fine with 4.36... I upgrade just for the heck of it, maybe it will improve performance...
