Will it crunch...AMD HD4200 IGP Edition

I recently attached my desktop system to Collatz and much to my surprise it started to download work for my lowly AMD HD4200 IGP.
This IGP is way old and way slow. I didnt even realize it could crunch anything.

The HD4200 runs at 500mhz is tied to system memory and only has 40 SP's. This thing predates OpenCL, I think the app is written in brook+ or whatever the first generation Folding@home app was written in.

It downloaded a solo collatz unit and took 285,492.73 minutes to crunch for a point value of 14,585.55. That is slightly less than 1% per hour. The nice thing about this is the application only uses .01 cpu to feed the gpu app so it doesn't affect the other things my cpu is working on. The bad side is that the system is basically unusable for anything as the screen has horrible lag while the app is running.

Does anyone have any comparable Solo collatz WU's I can compare to?

Do you mean 285,492.73 seconds?

My AMD HD5830 grabs the ati14 tasks. It takes about 7,770 seconds to complete 1 solo task for which I receive approximately 14,500 points. I think Collatz is the only BOINC application that still has Brook+/CAL applications... MAYBE Primegrid?

WUProp is a great resource for workunits properties of BOINC projects. See the Results page.

Uh, yeah I meant seconds. 😳

Thanks for the link for wuprop. I didn't know that existed.

Digging thru the collatz wu's it seems my gpu is about on par with some arm CPUs in the 1.5ghz range.

This thing isn't going to win any records, but the system is basically a space heater for my milk house.

Just for giggles I overclocked my IGP from 500Mhz to 600Mhz and dropped the WU time quite a bit.
new solo WU
251,867.26 seconds. Still takes forever, but a little quicker. This IGP is supposed to be able to clock higher, maybe will try another bump.

It seems collatz dropped their support for ati14/brook+/cal gpus.

On to the only other project I could find.

Moo wrapper!
It takes just over 7 hours a wu. Getting me about 1000 credits a day. I'm not too into the rc-72 cracking effort, but I hate to leave this thing idle especially as heating season is upon me.

The top end of the 4000 series stack was newer gpu's than this one afaik. This IGP was just a recycled hd3200...and maybe 2000 series chip. It predates the opencl requirements of milkyway sadly.
