I basically have two days to read the manual and prepare for the mod to my case.
I work 7 pm to 7 am both today and tomorrow.
I have to reroute my water system which will take a while. Also since this a 1st attempt at vapor change I'm not sure "exactly" what to expect.

I'm looking at booting up the system sometime Sunday evening or early Monday morning.

Is that an Antec Lanboy case? Looks nice in black. BTW, small world fellow Hoosier, I'm in Lafayette.

Hmm. Looks just like a lanboy but without the window and trueblue PS. Did you cut that window yourself?

Sure did :)
I thought it came out pretty good to...

I love this case, the way it's made you can hide almost all the cabling.
The drive cages have vibration dampers and the whole thiing is very solid.
I took out the 380W Antec supply and installed a 550W Antec in it's place .

My wife used to be much worse but I had to build her one for her work and now she LOVES my PC skills. She just wishes I'd be content with what we have longer. Or that new hardware were cheaper. :)

Welcome to AT slurmsmackenzie!

By the way, I just reread the AT socket 939 article and my upgrade path has changed a little bit, it ought to save me some $$$ too.

Socket 939 NF3-250Gb Ultra motherboard (come on Abit, make a Max3 for me!)
Socket 939 A64 3500+
Zalman CNPS 7000a if it'll fit on a Socket 939 board (should)

I'll reuse the rest of my current system (including the GF4, I'll get a 6800GT later this year). I may be able to get this system built by the time my kids go back to school in September. **crosses fingers**

Sorry, but an 8-way Opteron rig will smoke what you have planned here. Heck, even a fast 2-way or 4-way rig would annihilate you in everything except the gaming benchmarks. So, you should change the title to "Fastest Single-CPU AMD Rig Ever?".

Changed just for you ;)

Playing with SuperPi right now.

32 M 28 min 40 sec

1M 32 seconds

I'll be posting better scores tomorrow evening when I get the Vapo LS installed.
The above scores were done on water and is smashing the P4 scores until they get up to 4.2 Ghz :)

That's overkill. But anyways, I'm in Lansing, Illinois, 2blocks from Munster Indiana. Almost a Hoosier! :p

just wondering why you continually post your system specs? I"m assuming it's reassurance that you are the "best" and have the "best" computer around... anywho, as long as you sleep good at night knowing people envy your l33t computer, that's all that matters. :)

hey silver black, you running your raprtors off onboard controller or other controller.

are the built in sata raid controllers unstable at higher fsb.

am planning to add raptors in raid 0 mode.

plus i plan to push the fsb close to 250 mhz.

any thoughts.

SkV8's will not run at an FSB over 225 reliably.
The VIA controller for SATA will not run over an FSB of 211 while the Promise will run faster.

If you plan on a 250 FSB the SK8V is the wrong board :(

i don't have the sk8v.

i have lanparty mobo, nf2 ultra B

it has silicon image sata raid chip.

i heard that on board sata doesn't perform well as you bump the fsb.

any thoughts on this issue.

Your board has an AGP\PCI bus lock, you're fine. The first generation A64\Opteron boards don't have a lock, which is where problems crop up when overclocking.

Your system could a be a bit faster :) no offense or anything but the WD Raptors that are 74Gig are noticably faster than the 36.7Gig ones, or so i here.
