You will have to buy a serious SCSI setup to get in the ultra-l33t catagory because guys like MechBgon will raz you otherwise :p It ain't fast enough unless it's 15000rpm+

Hey, I resemble that remark! :p I'm just a "casual user," I even managed to cut back to just one 15k drive in my good rig. ;)

Have fun with your new setup, SilverBack :) Make sure to post some good :camera:'s for us!

You have inspired me to upgrade my own computer now (within a year's time). My wife will be displeased. :D

Well I'm planning on moving to a 940 board when available that has PCI Express RAID.
Although not quite as fast as the SCSI, it's awful close.

The disk subsystem play little part in what I do with my system mostly anyway.

Have to tell you though. I was just playing Call of Duty on a server with 48 people.
I was having a great time, they were having probs though :)

I'm all set on taking pictures :)
I've cleaned off a work bench and I'm all ready to go.
I'll post pictures and results hopefully on Monday as I have to work Friday and Saturday.

I'm leaning on buying a Lian Li case as the Vapo LS was designed with them in mind.
I really love my Antec however.

Good deal :)

Lol... :) We ARE some serious AMD zealots aren't we? I guess Duvie was right. Though some of you all are contributing mightily to the AMD warchest lately.

I've read on several forums that people with vapor change have had problems getting over 2.9 Ghz.
Hopefully I'll be one who can. I've got faith in this chip, it can bench at 2770 with good stability on water.
Honestly though I usually leave it at 2.6 Ghz as the memory works better at a whole number multiplier.
The fractional multi's (ie 13.5)force the memory controller into asynchronus mode.

My best benchmarks have been at 2.6 GHz with a FSB of 210. Anything over that FSB and the system fails because of the PCI/AGP bus being unlocked.

What I think I will be doing is running the system at 2.8 and an FSB of 210. That will give me 2940 as a target.
Of course I'm not ruling out an even 3 Ghz either. (SB's fingers are crossed)

Good luck with that SilverBack. Are you going to continue updating this thread? If so, I'll subscribe to it.

mechBgon, I plan on an NF3-250Gb Ultra and perhaps an Opteron 150. I want 1MB of L2 cache and DDR and the Opteron is cheaper than an FX most of the time.

Have you heard there is going to be a 940 pin NF3-250Gb?
If so where? I would like to have one with a locked PCI/AGP bus myself :)

And yes I'll keep it updated as much as I can :)

AFAIK, the only Opteron NF3 250gb product on the horizon is the Iwill Zmax. Whether it will have an AGP/PCI lock is another question, but there's no reason to think that it won't, since both their DPI533 and newer DH800 Xeon boards have it.

Benchmark it of course ;)
LOL

I do some 3d rendering, but I also do a lot of encoding and gaming.
Spare cycles when it's said and done will go to D2OL :)

Nice :). I have resigned from the "Need the latest, greatest, fastest" race. Finding myself using the computer less and less... finding more important things to do, like maintain my home, cars, and health (gym). Needless to say, it has been saving me a lot of money too!

I understand that completely.
I have kind of devoted this summer to my PC. I'm getting a lot of overtime at work, so thats where the money is going. LOL

This system has to last me a long time. I'm sure it will. :p
