Will it be safe for me to run "rthdribl" overnight?

I OCed my x800XL to 440/570 and it seems to be stable according to 3dmark05's infinite loop tests.

But to insure this, I was wondering if I could safely run rthdribl overnight to insure maximum stability of my video card.

I heard this program makes the video card extremely hot and some guy in another forum had his power supply blow up when he did it lol...

Nothing that you do normally will stress your video card more than infinite loops with 3dmark05, so don't bother running rthdribl overnight.

I ran it overnight to test my OC, and aside from waking up from the screensaver at 100% cpu, it was fine.

Maybe RTHDRIBL stresses different parts of the card than 3DMark05.

If his PSU blew up then it obviously sucked... no pun intended.

I wouldn't run it overnight. An hour is plenty. rthdribl stresses more components of the video card than 3dmark. Nothing beats rthdribl afaik to raise the core temperature.

Similarly cpuburn is better for testing stability instead of superpi or prime95 because more execution units are in use.

i found the AOEIII demo to be even better than rthdrible at getting the gpu temp up quickly and finding artifacts. That was until i tried the Lost Coast demo in the church with everything maxed, HDR full at 1024, oxaa/8xaf. Hottest i've ever seen my gpu (a good three 'C hotter than the AOEII demo would hit)...

Just make sure you change the batteries on the smoke detector. Also, remember PASS. Pull Aim Squeeze Sweep. And before you PASS, make sure that fire extinguisher is C rated. :D
